Sterling, Va., January 18, 2019—The AMSA(Â鶹Դ´) congratulates newly selected 2019–2020 Education and Advocacy Fellow Keanan McGonigle.
Keanan McGonigle is a fourth-year medical student at Tulane University School of Medicine. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in human biology from the University of Virginia in 2014 and completed a Master of Public Policy in 2015, also at the University of Virginia.
Keanan has been involved with AMSAleadership since his undergraduate years and has been active with Â鶹Դ´â€™s AIDS Advocacy Network throughout his graduate and medical education. He has served as a member and chair of the AIDS Advocacy Network since Fall 2014;  AMSAregional director for Region IV from 2016–2017; and in leadership roles at the local chapter level through both his medical chapter at Tulane School of Medicine and his premedical chapter at the University of Virginia.
Keanan has an interest in HIV primary care and plans to pursue a residency in internal medicine with a focus on primary care. His advocacy interests include HIV/AIDS, access to medicines, environmental health and climate change, and medical conflict of interest. Keanan is excited to engage with medical students, legislators, and community and policy partners to advance Â鶹Դ´’s role in shaping the future of health care in the upcoming year. He is particularly excited to work with medical students to raise their voices on topics they are passionate about!
AMSAwill welcome Keanan as fellow beginning May 2019, and we’re excited to see the work he will put into driving Â鶹Դ´â€™s mission over the 2019 – 2020 year.
